Prof. Pettitt is an expert on Irish film and the author of numerous books (Screening Ireland, 2000/2023; The Last Bohemian, 2022) and essays on Irish cinema, television, and cultural history. His current research focuses on Eugene McCabe’s television work and the influence of religion on Irish film.
Prof Pettitt will join us for a wide-ranging discussion on Irish film, his experience of teaching Irish culture to German students, the future of Irish Studies as an academic discipline, and how educational initiatives like the Travelling Professorship can contribute to Ireland’s image abroad.
