The Mentoring and Tutorial Programme
The mentoring and tutorial programme in English and American studies is designed to help first semester students manage the transition to university life, and to provide targeted training in essay writing and research methods. One mentor is available for questions concerning the organisation of studies, and she also coordinates the comprehensive tutorial programme of the department. In these tutorials, students practice producing academic work in small groups. Additionally, students have the opportunity to prepare for important examinations, and to receive feedback on their progress.

The mentoring and tutorial programme in English and American studies is part of the project "Starting University" (Die Studieneingangsphase: Wege ebnen, Vielfalt fördern, Perspektiven aufzeigen), which aims at facilitating the transition from school to university by supporting first-year students in various ways.
